Santa Cookie Recipe
Santa cookies 350 degrees
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
1 T. milk
4 eggs
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
5 cups all purpose flour
Cream shortening and sugar, add milk and eggs and beat til fluffy. Add salt and baking powder to flour and nutmeg, stir to mix. Add the dry ingredients into the shortneing, sugar, milk and eggs. Beat slowly as it will be thick. Divide in 2 parts and wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour. When chilled, roll out on flour dusted parchment paper. Spray cookie cutter with cooking spray, sprinkle lightly with flour, tap to get cookie cutter coated in flour.
Roll half of the dough to ¼ in thick using lightly floured rolling pin. Cut out with cookie cutter or press into Santa cookie cutter. Place the cookies 2 inches part and bake 10-11 min at 350 degrees. Cool on baking rack. Ice with any buttercream icing, sprinkle with coconut or sprinkles.Store in air proof container in one layer to with wax paper or parchment paper between the cookie layers. Don’t stack more than 2 cookies deep. Will last in cool air for 2 weeks or free in air tight container.
